Greeting from President of Hospital

Greeting from President of Hospital

Are you worried about your own health and health of your family as well as medical and nursing cares due to aging? Social Medical Care Corporation Hoseikai, with Marunouchi Hospital being its core, is striving to ease your concern as much as possible by offering integrated services in medical and nursing cares. As a hospital opened to the local community, we are actively taking part in creating a local community through prevention of diseases, health promotion, perinatal care, child-rearing support, etc.

Our hospital is a middle-sized hospital with 199 beds; 141 beds in the General 7:1 Ward and 58 beds in the Regional Comprehensive Care Ward. We focus on providing a warm and meticulous medical care which may be difficult for large hospitals to offer, through mutual cooperation and collaboration of community-based medical care departments and specialty-oriented medical care departments, as well as various professions offering technical support respecting the standpoint of patients. From our hospital ward, which was relocated and newly constructed in the western part of Matsumoto City ten years ago, you can see a panoramic view of the mountain range of the Northern Alps behind Narai River in the west and Utsukushigahara Heights in the east, which comfort and cheer up our patients.

Our hospital is characterized by the following ten center functions: Centers related to locomotorium include the Artificial Joint Center, the Rheumatism Collagen Diseases Center, the Upper Limb Surgery Center, and the Sports Medicine Center. Various professions conduct duties in collaboration at the Maternal and Child Medical Care Center providing “perinatal care”, accredited as a social medical care corporation in December 2011, the Gastroenterology Center consisting of internal medicine and surgery related to digestive organs, and the Preoperational Examination Center which controls preparations for safe operations and relieves anxiety of patients. Also in operation are the Medical Examination Center specializing in disease prevention and health promotion, the Home Care Support Center providing home medical care, and the Clinical Instruction Training Center that supervises training and education of the staff, medical residents and students.

In Japan, an aging population with a declining birth rate, and the trend toward the nuclear family are in progress. In order for each resident to live in his or her own way in the local community, integral and seamless services in medical and nursing care must be provided in each local community. Multiple nursing homes associated with Marunouchi Hospital and Home Care Support Center, within our corporation, continue to play an integral part in the “regional comprehensive care system”. Through smooth transfers from hospital to home care / nursing care as well as conversely from home care to hospital care, we will support our patients so that they can live in peace in the local community.

Supporting not only elderly persons but also the younger generation is indispensable to revitalize the local community and give hope for the future. Because of the trend toward the nuclear family and both husband and wife working for living, expecting mothers have to face harsh circumstances including uneasiness toward delivery, childcare, and postpartum depression. In addition to bearing perinatal care, we commit medical resources accumulated so far to support mothers before and after perinatal period as well as child care. Furthermore, we plan to open part of our in-hospital nursery to the local community to provide child care support with day care for sick children in mind. We will also actively take part in creating a local community so as to protect health of the local residents through medical care for lifestyle-related diseases and locomotive syndrome and frailty, improved health consciousness of residents, and promoting a habit of exercise.

Yukio Nakatsuchi
